Reposed 5th century No memorial date known

St Cynog is said to have been the son of one of the early kings of Wales who became a hermit at Llangynog in Powys; others are said to have resented his presence and killed him. He is buried at Merthyr (Welsh: shrine) Cynog which became a place of pilgrimage.
