Saint Gwithian Ascetic

Reposed 5/6 century No memorial date known

St Gwithian was another very early saint who landed in the estuary of the Hayle. His (her?) oratory and relics were uncovered from Gwithian Towans sands in the early 19C but, as with St Piran at Perranporth, they could not be kept free of the sand and were buried again. The holy well survives just, in a bank near the crossroads on Godrevy Towans.
