Little is known of St Abban. Indeed there may have been persons of the same name whose names have been mixed up. One St Abban may have been the brother of St Gobnait of Ballyvourney in Co Cork; at any rate he was probably one of those important early figures we know so little about. and the. He has a holy well near hers and a grave not far from hers. It is a very ancient grave, very intriguing and well worth finding. Claims that he lived in the second century and is connected with Abingdon should be ignored.
