Saint Caimin Abbot

Reposed 6 century Remembered March 24

St Caimin founded a monastery on Holy Island (Inishcealtra) in the Shannon Co Clare. This island lies in the middle of Lough Derg and is easy of access by local boat, very beautiful and peaceable.

It has seven churches, one of which is probably the shrine of St Caimin. The Saints cemetery holds many graves of saints which have never been disturbed. That is utterly amazing.
