Saint Colman Mac Duagh Abbot

Reposed 632 Remembered April 7

St Colman was a hermit trained by St Enda. He found a cave at Keelhilla on the Burren Co Clare which can be found with diligent search along with his church and holy well. When disciples came he founded a monastery not far away at Kilmacduagh Co Galway. He may be buried there. Eventually the place became a monastic city with many churches.

Three Colmans were involved in the foundation of churches at Oughtmama Co Clare. The churches are situated high up in a remote limestone valley. There is also a holy well. But which St Colman? There were many of them!
