Saint Ethernan or Adrian_Scotland Bishop

Little is known about this saint. He might have been an Irish monk and bishop around St Andrews. He founded monasteries on the coast of Fife and begun a hermitage and monastery on the Isle of May 5 miles out to sea. The likely date of his death is 669

The Vikings landed on May in 875 and killed all the monks including the abbot whose name was Adrian. Their bodies, including that of Adrian are said to be buried under a huge cairn made up of perhaps one and a half million cobbles.

The similarity of the sound of the names of these two persons has led them to be confused into one. But the likelihood is that they are two
