St Boisil was one of the first to be trained by St Aidan at Lindisfarne and went on to the monastery of Melrose then in Northumberland and now in Scotland. He welcomed St Cuthbert as a young man to the monastery.
He had the gift of prophecy. He died of the plague. A piece of his shrine survives.
