Reposed 647 Remembered April 5

St Ethelburga was sent to be husband of King Edwin and Queen of Northumbria. A condition of the marriage was that he should become a Christian. When he was killed in battle she was forced to return south and established a monastery for women at Lyminge; research has shown there was also one for men.
