Saint Alphege Bishop

This saint was a monk who was made bishop in 934/5 and became a supporter of monastic reform. He died in 951 and was buried at the Old Minster in Winchester. He was revered as a saint.

N.B. Not to be confused with Saint Alphege, Archbishop of Canterbury. who was martyred in 1022.
