St Wulfstan was the last surviving Saxon bishop and the old English born bishop after 1095. His see was Worcester.
He became a monk and was traned at Eveshan and Peterborough. He founded the priory at Great Malvern. All other bishops of the time were Normans. He was a strong opponent of the slave trade. He is said to have healed king Harold’s daughter. He was canonised in 1203.
