Saint Clether or Cleder Ascetic

Reposed 6 century Remembered November 4

The village of St Clether lies on the east side of Bodmin Moor. It has one of the best well chapels in existence. The water enters from a stream outside the chapel and flows in under the altar and out again to form a well where the faithful may take the water. St Clederus from whom the village takes its name may have been a early royal from Wales.

There is another holy well at St Cleer, one used for total immersion, some ten miles away; there is nothing to help us as to whether there is any relationship between the two.
